Blu Ray Disc Players Info and Reviews
Blu Ray Disc players are a great way to upgrade your home theater. Now that the the format war between HD-DVD and Blu Ray has been settled, you can feel safe upgrading to a new player. But what kind of player do you get? Do you need one with advanced graphics? Improved audio? an ability to upscale your DVDs? Well, all these options are available to you if you’re willing to pay for them. So which of the options do you truly need. Well now, that’s certainly the question!
These days, the first thing to worry about when you check out a Blu Ray disc player is what is refered to as the “profile”. Blu ray disc players have been out for several years now, and as a result advances have been made from the first players. The advances have been classified as profiles. Profile 1.0 refers to the original player types with very limited functionality. Profile 1.1 added some extra audio capabilities, and Profile 2.0 adds what is called BD Live.
BD Live is a blu ray disc player’s ability to play special content that is both authored on the disc and downloaded from the internet. These players have the ability to connect to the internet and get this extra content stored to the internal memory of the player. Some 2.0 profile players require you to add a flash drive to them while others have the memory built right in.
Blu Ray disc players also have a wide variety of audio options. You’ll want to be sure you understand these options and make sure that they fit in to your audio scheme. Do you want 5.1 or 7.1 sound? Do you have a subwoofer? Some blu ray disc players these come integrated with a receiver these days. Personally I recommend avoiding these types of players as they tend to break more easily, but it is an easy solution if you’re on budget or have a smaller space.
